In the summer of 1956 a strange unearthly substance crash landed in a small Midwestern town. What the substance was and where it came from is still the subject of debate. What is known is that it wreaked havoc over the course of one terror filled night.

Needless to say through the quick action and intervention of the townspeople and local authorities the threat was neutralized if not exactly destroyed. It was decided that in case of another similar occurrence that the American people should be given the information on how to protect themselves. But how, without causing a panic?

How, with a story so far fetched, so fantastic, and so unlikely, how to spread the much needed information. It was decided that first a movie would be made, than another, and another. Then a musical. Made and remade over and over again. This way the information required for your survival would be in the popular imagination and the people of this great nation would be free to write off this information as mindless entertainment, midnight movie fare, and go about their lives. All the while not realizing how close we all came to total destruction.
